September Newsletter
Welcome to The Academy of Dance and Performing Arts 2009-2010 dance year!
- Classes begin the week of September 14th. Impact Dancer classes begin the week of August 31st. There will be no Impact classes Friday September 4th or Monday September 7th.
- Remember that all returning students were evaluated and this years placements are based on those evaluations. If you new to ADPA, our teaching staff will do our best to place you in the appropriate levels. So please try your best the first few weeks in all classes so we can make sure you are placed appropriately.
- If you are not pleased or feel uncomfortable with your placements, please speak to your instructor regarding "Challenge Testing". At "Challenge Testing" you are given the opportunity to prove your skills to a panel of our ADPA instructors. (There will be two opportunities to do so, Saturday October 3rd and Saturday October 31st.) After this, all class placements are final. Please note that all skill levels should be performed with correct technique and no demonstration provided. Vocabulary and technique are important.
- Please take time to carefully read the ADPA rules, guidelines and dress codes as they are very important and have changed since the 2008-2009 dance year. This information packet is available at ADPA, it is posted on our website and was given to you at the time of your registration. Please make sure you thoroughly read the 2009-2010 information packet before asking questions. This packet covers the following: Dress Code-Challenge Testing-Performances-Classroom Etiquette-Billing and Payment Schedules-Class Descriptions-Withdrawal Policies etc.
- Any billing or office questions should be directed to the office staff during the hours of 3:30-6:00 Monday through Thursday. You can also email concerns to the office email on our website.
- Please try to leave messages at the front desk for instructors...trying to catch them "in between" classes often takes away time from those students waiting for their next class.
- IMPACT Dancers: Please remember to turn in your contract ASAP. A new order for Impact clothing will be sent in soon. TBA
